Honda Gold Wing Updates
The high costs of developing and producing such an advanced motorcycle prevent Honda from frequently changing the Gold Wing’s main components. These include the six-cylinder engine, twin-spar aluminum frame with its double-wishbone front suspension, and complete body design.
For similar reasons, earlier models also stayed mostly the same for several years. The GL1000, for example, lasted five years, and the second-generation GL1100 was made from 1980 to 1983. The next GL1200, which also came in GL1200 Interstate and GL1200 Aspencade versions, with the fuel-injected GL1200 SE-i as the last flat-four, was produced for five years too. The fourth- and fifth-generation GL1500 and GL1800, introduced in 1988 and 2001, respectively, lasted a combined 29 years!
In the two years that the Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour have been on sale, Honda has mainly focused on improving the electronics, including offering regular updates to the navigation system.
How Much Power Does The Honda Gold Wing Make?
